I take it on faith that there are a great many thoughtful and reasonable people who consider themselves Republicans. That said, when hateful nonsense like this is going on, not as the ramblings of a fringe group but rather from an official state party (and the GOP are champions of state versus federal, after all), I don't know how anyone who considers themselves reasonable and thoughtful can consider themselves a Republican.

  1. After today, I think Republicans are abandoning thoughtfulness and reason. There's no reason for any Republican to *not* have voted to fund the military unless they're objecting to the DADT repeal. And it's not even a repeal -- it's to give the CIC and Joint Chiefs the authority to dismantle DADT if the military's study recommends it be repealed. And it wasn't even a vote to accomplish *that* -- it was a vote to allow debate on the bill. They didn't want to vote against it -- they wanted to vote against even *talking* about it and close off debate. John McCain, once a thoughtful and reasonable Republican, has taken leave of his moral compass to pick up the votes of Tea Partiers who *can't stand him to begin with.* GAAAAAAH.

Sorry for the rant, this is just bothering me immensely.
